Sinking Halves & Respecting women since 1988

Sigma Delta was founded in 1988 as Dartmouth’s first local sorority. Our sisterhood is currently 140 members strong, with 45-50 members from each class. We pride ourselves on friendship, inclusivity, and strength: our members come from all corners of campus, and represent hometowns from around the world. We are club leaders, team captains, student government officials, Presidential scholars, badass outdoorswomen, and shining stars on stage. Our alumni are making strides around the world as doctors, comedians, executives, and activists. By recognizing our differences, we strive to grow as individuals and as a sorority, and make positive contributions to our campus and our world.

inclusivity & sisterhood

The exec board includes two dedicated sisterhood chairs, a programming chair, and socials who organize activities like pizza at the O-Farm, studying at the house, CMTs (cocktails, mocktails, and talk-tails), and more. Sisters of Sigma Delt, where 6 sisters share their stories, and sisterhood discussions are termly traditions that let us listen, learn, and reflect upon the state of the house.

We hold pre-recruitment bias training, termly Sisterhood/values discussions, and weekly Equity and Inclusivity conversations.

Each class elects a "concerns" chair to represent them to the exec board, and we also have an inclusivity task force that takes action to improve on inclusivity issues in our house.

We meet 100% of financial aid, full stop.

peach haus, Swan haus, our haus:

10 west wheelock

We’re located at 10 West Wheelock St., a College-owned facility that houses 16 members. An inflatable swan hangs in our entryway to protect us, along with our pride flag. 8 pong tables fit in our basement. We study in our “dining room,” have meetings and rollerblade around our front room, and hang out on the roof or backyard picnic tables. Our “library” was recently painted purple, and has comfy couches along with books for every class and lots of old photo albums. We have a sister garden, with plants growing in clean, empty keystone cans, and we recently discovered that we have a peach tree!
