President: Heather Beatty

I am from Toronto, Canada and I am an Art History major. I love Sigma Delt because it is a strong and cohesive family, one that seeks to empower women and create a space for group and individual growth. I fundamentally believe in the sanctity of our space on campus, in a physical sense, but more importantly in a spiritual sense. It is a group where sisters can congregate to respect themselves, respect women and respect their sisterhood. One of my female role models is a close friend and fellow Sigma Delt ’11, Kat Richardson. She is a strong, independent woman who continues to amaze me with her actions and words. This house is fantastic and I feel honoured to be a part of it!

Standards and Development Chair: Kate Burns

I’m Kate Burns and I’m taking over (or well the first to hold) the SD Chair position. Just a quick bit about this new position - it stands for Standards and Development and my job is to assist our wonderful new president Heather and also to work on some less tangible, long-term goals that will help make Sigma Delt even more amazing!As for a bit about me, I’m an Anthropology major modified with Global Health and International Development and I’m pre-med. While I love science classes and hours of lab, I’m so grateful that Sigma Delt has given me the opportunity to meet an amazing diverse group of women on campus who are just as passionate about their life goals as I am - from swimmers to social activists to slam poets we’ve got an amazing group that’s exposed me to so many other facets of Dartmouth.My mom is definitely my role model for a strong woman - she’s never let any challenge hold her back and has taught me that family is more important than anything, and that whenever you’re stressed just dance it out. Now that I think about it, that’s probably why I got into Irish Step dancing (I’m Irish), which I did for over five years throughout middle school and high school.

Houseman: Ashley Afranie-Sakyi

I’m a Sociology Major Modified with Women and Gender Studies and from Northern Virginia. My mom is a computer programmer.

Philanthropy: Rachel Abendroth

I am a Neuroscience major from Hershey, PA. I love this house so much and I am grateful, above all else, for the relationships formed and maintained because of my involvement in this house. My role model is Jane Goodall. Fun fact: there is a convenience store that gives out free slushies on my birthday in my honor!

Scholarship: Bailey Hoar

I like to refer to myself as Queen of the Nerds of Sigma Delt. I hail from Burlington, Vermont, but currently reside in the picturesque Topliff Hall. I am a Philosophy & Music major and a Classical Studies minor-so I spend a ton of time singing, looking at pictures of super-old things, and pondering questions that have no answers. (Sometimes at the same time!) In my spare time, I sing more -with the Decibelles and the Glee Club-and works for the Music and Philosophy Dept. I am also a tour guide, soI know a whole lot of obscure facts about Dartmouth! I am super-excited to plan all kinds of nerdy things for the house, especially to go to all of the 12s thesis presentations and to have profs over for a spring BBQ! My role models are Julie Andrews and mi madre. I love sigma delt because of our commitment to each other and the house. And because every sister I’ve met is one of the very coolest people in the world, and I’ve learned a ton about what I want to be because of them.

Programming: Thea Stutsman

I am an Art History major from Malibu, CA. Sigma Delt has been an incredibly empowering and important part of my time here at Dartmouth. It has facilitated relationships with women that I don’t know if I would have met otherwise who have taught me so much and have helped me grow in ways I had no way of imagining.

Interesting fact? I got a national award at a new york jazz festival for “outstanding soloist”.

Treasurer: Caitlin Ardrey

I’m a Government major with an International Studies minor. I’m from Greenwich, CT. I love Sigma Delt because I’ve gotten to meet a group of amazing women with diverse backgrounds and interests that I would not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise. My female role model is Madeline Albright. Interesting fact? I speak three languages!

Sisterhood: Hannah Giorgis

I’m from Anaheim, CA. I love Sigma Delt because our sisterhood is not only supportive and empowering, but also not afraid to just let go and be weird sometimes. When I grow up, I want to be Melissa Harris-Perry. I once watched 25 episodes of Law & Order: SVU in a row.

Alumnae: Meeta Prakash

I’m pre-dental and an Environmental Studies Major from Richmond, VA. I love Sigma Delt because it has taught me how to be comfortable with myself and it is filled with strong women who go after what they believe in. My female role model is my grandmother who started a school in Kenya and was a doctor before there were many female doctors. Interesting fact: I’ve visited six of the seven continents (can you guess which one I haven’t been to?)

Socials: Sara Stone

I designed my own major which is titled Anthropology modified with Ethics and it has a focus on global health and specifically inter-governmental and cross-cultural interactions. I also have a minor in International Studies. I am from Marion, MA. I love SD because it is this amazing female-dominated space and body of incredible women who are innovative, engaged, and supportive of a variety of different sisters’ interests (and also really fun)! I don’t really have a specific female role model - I tend to pick out the characteristics/traits of strong women and strive to incorporate them as I grow. An interesting fact about me is that I used to be a model!

& Kate O’Brien

I am Neuroscience Major and Art History Minor from Rancho Santa Margarita, California. I am Varsity Diver. I love sigma delta because it is a house/group strong women who empower one another, as well as support each sister to be an individual and pursue their passions. My female role model is my mother. Because she has over come so much in her life, and is so selfless and supportive when it comes to my family. Fun fact… I got a concussion when a tv fell on my head and I broke my femur running
