Why You Should Join Sigma Delta - Stories from Sisters
In Sigma Delt I have found an extraordinarily supportive and diverse group of sisters. I’ve made some of my best friends on campus and found a place where I can truly be myself. When I rushed I didn’t put any thought into the perks of joining a local sorority, but it makes a big difference! It’s amazing to have a space to host open events and to come together each year as a sisterhood to pick our own philanthropies. Joining Sigma Delt was by far one of the best things I’ve done at Dartmouth, and you should too. - Sigma Delt ’14
I originally thought that I was not going to rush here at Dartmouth. However, I have always looked up to my 2 older sisters and thought that perhaps I should expand my list of role models. That was my mindset going in to rush: find a place with amazing upperclass women whom you look up to and want to emulate. Sigma Delt has gone above and beyond any expectations I ever had about being in a Greek house. Not only do I respect each and every sister for what I have to learn from them, but I’ve also never had an environment in which I feel so comfortable and so able to be myself. Going in to my senior year, I cannot fathom what my Dartmouth experience would have been like if I had not become a part of this house, and I can honestly say that it has helped me become the kind of person I want to be while also supplying me with some of the most important friendships I’ve found here at Dartmouth. - Sigma Delt ’14
Going into rush, I was looking for a strong community of women that I could look up to and trust. I have found far more than that at Sigma Delt. Not only did I meet inspiring upperclasswomen, I also found my fellow pledges to be incredibly diverse, friendly, outgoing, passionate, and intelligent. There has never been a place where I have felt more comfortable being myself. Coming off of sophomore summer and going into the rush process on the other side, I can’t wait to share my experiences and meet the new members of this house! - Sigma Delt ’15
I always knew I wanted to join a house, and I liked the idea of it being local, having our own social space and having more choice regarding the future of our house but I never realized how impactful Sigma Delt would be on my life. This house is the most diverse, welcoming and supportive community I have found at Dartmouth. I met my closest friends here and I can’t imagine my Dartmouth experience without it. I have learned so much about myself and challenged myself more through this house than I ever had in the past. Sigma Delt is made up of strong independent women whom I trust and know I can go up to any sister for help. I can walk through the doors of this house in any emotional state and know that there will be someone there to celebrate or to support me. This house is my home and I encourage everyone to consider this place-regardless if you become a member or not- as a supporting welcoming house for anyone. - Sigma Delt ’15
