Sigma Delta in The Dartmouth
In an article published on 5/15, the D wrote that “sororities and the Inter-Sorority Council have begun examining how their bylaws include or exclude non-binary students.” Our president, Gigi Gunderson ‘21, commented that “Sigma Delt has always been open to self-identifying women, gender non-binary and gender non-conforming folks, to the best of our exec board’s understanding.” Echoing this, alumna Mel Pastuck ’11 said that “while sororities typically ‘propagate traditional gender roles,’ her experience with a diversity of views at Sigma Delt ‘helped people write their own story about what it means to be female identified.’”
On 5/4, the D reported that “Dartmouth’s local sororities – none of which charged dues this term – are struggling to pay off their insurance premiums.” Our president, Gigi Gunderson ‘21, said that “the presidents and treasurers of all four local sororities have written to the College administration to request assistance … [Gigi] added that she and Sigma Delt treasurer Maya Recanati ’21 have been in contact with the Office of Greek Life and the Payroll Office.”
This article from 4/30 features sister Zoe Chandra ‘21, who said that “while she wishes PNMs had the opportunity to see the ‘actual, physical house,’ she has been ‘impressed’ with what her sorority’s rush chairs have organized.”
